Valentine's day is approaching fast...so what's better than a nice and quick crochet project to create a lovely present?
Well, my friends, I think I have the right one for you...and it's free!
The Hoya Kerry is a beautiful plant with thick heart-shaped leaves that make it the perfect gift idea for Valentine's Day.
Here is my sweet crocheted version "planted" in a little white pot filled with pebbles.

YARN: Light (3) Green, Pink; Classic Cotton Thread in Black
MATERIALS: C2 - 2.75 mm Hook; Poly Filling
DIMENSION: H. 3” x W. 2.5”
ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), fasten off (F/O)
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
INSTRUCTIONS: work in rounds (join with a sl st and ch 1 at the end of each round) unless otherwise instructed.

LEAF (green yarn)
Make two:
Rnd 1: 8 sc in a mr (8)
Rnd 2: sc inc around (16)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)
Rnd 4 - 6: sc even (24)
Do not cut the yarn once you have crocheted the 2nd part.
Merge the 2 parts together:
Rnd 7: join the yarn to any one st of the last round of the first made part, work 1 sc dec, 22 sc, keep working on the 2nd part, 22 sc, 1 sc dec (46)
Round 8: (1 sc dec, 7 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 sc, 1 sc dec, 7 sc, 1 dec) rep twice (38)
Round 9: 1 sc dec, 6 sc, 1 sc dec, 7 sc, 2 sc dec, 6 sc, 1 sc dec, 7 sc, 1 sc dec (32)
Round 10: 1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec, 5 sc, 2 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec (26)
Round 11: 5 sc, 1 sc dec, 11 sc, 1 sc dec, 6 sc (24)
Round 12: (5 sc, 1 sc dec, 10 sc, 1 sc dec, 5 sc (22)
Round 13: (5 sc, 1 sc dec, 9 sc, 1 sc dec, 4 sc (20)
Round 14: 4 sc, 2 sc dec, 6 sc, 2 sc dec, 2 sc (16)
Round 15: 3 sc, 2 sc dec, 4 sc, 2 sc dec, 1 sc (12)
Round 16: (1 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (8)
Round 17: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep twice (6)
F/O, cut the yarn and wave in end. Stuff the leaf very lightly, keeping the flatten shape.
Use a toothpick to make it stand into a pot.
Embroider the eyes and the mouth with black cotton thread.
Embroider the cheeks with pink yarn.
