If you’ve been looking for a fun, creative crochet project that looks almost good enough to eat, I am so excited to introduce my latest design: the Sushi Play Food Set!
I wanted this collection to feel like a complete restaurant experience, packed with realistic details and textures. Here is a look at what you’ll be making:
Assorted Nigiri: Classic rice blocks topped with detailed seafood and egg, including salmon with delicate white surface crochet striping, shrimp with a textured center divide, and tamago (egg) wrapped with a dark nori band.
Delicious Rolls: A variety of colorful maki and inside-out rolls, featuring fun details like embroidered imitation crab rims, colorful topping accents, and textured fish roe (tobiko) worked with French knots.
The Perfect Sides: No sushi platter is complete without condiments! The set comes with a rolled wasabi "flower" and soft ginger slices to round out the board.
This set is packed with engaging techniques that make every single piece a joy to construct. From working through double layers to shape the nigiri toppings, to surface crocheting crisp accent lines and stitching realistic garnishes, you’ll never get bored moving from one piece to the next!
