If you are like me, you probably love cozying up on the couch during the coldest day of the year. So let's get ready for those times and crochet along this beautiful and holiday inspired hot water bottle cover with my simple and free pattern!

Crochet Hook Size M/N (9 mm)

Yarn Needle


GAUGE

9 hdc + 7 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm).

HOT WATER BOTTLE COVER

With A

Rnd 1: Ch 15, 2 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc in each of the next 12 chs, 4 hdc into the last ch; keep working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, hdc in each of the next 12 chs, 2 hdc into the last ch – 32 hdc.

Rnd 2: 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in each of the next 14 sts, 2 hdc in the next 2 sts, hdc in each of the next 14 sts, 2 hdc in the next st – 36 hdc sc.

Rnd 3: 1 hdc in the next 8 sts, with B, 1 ps in the next 4 sts, with A, 1 hdc in the next 24 sts – 36 sts.

Rnd 4: With A, 1 hdc in the next 9 sts, with B, 1 ps in the next 4 sts, with A, 1 hdc in the next 23 sts – 36 sts.

Rnd 5: With A, ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 6 sts, with C, 1 ps in the next 11 sts, with A, 1 hdc in the next 19 sts – 36 sts.

Rnd 6: With A, ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 7 sts, with C, 1 ps in the next 11 sts, with A, 1 hdc in the next 18 sts – 36 sts.

Rnd 7: With A, ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 8 sts, with C, 1 ps in the next 10 sts, with A, 1 hdc in the next 18 sts – 36 sts.

Rnd 8: With A, ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 9 sts, with C, 1 ps in the next 9 sts, with A, 1 hdc in the next 18 sts – 36 sts.

Rnd 17: Ch 1, 1 sc in the next 7 sts, sc2tog twice, 1 sc in the next 13 sts, sc2tog twice, 1 sc in the next 8 sts – 32 sc.


Do not fasten off.


Ribbed Band

With A

Row 1: Ch 7, 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 chs, 1 sc in each of the next 3 chs, 1 sl st into st 2 of Rnd 17 – 7 sts.

Row 2: 1 sl st into st 3 of Rnd 17, turn, working in back loop of Row 1, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 1 hdc in the next 3 sts – 7 sts; Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, working in back loop of Row 2, 1 hdc in the next 3 sts, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 1 sl st in st 4 of Rnd 17 – 7 sts.

Row 4: 1 sl st into st 5 of Rnd 17, turn, working in back loop of Row 3, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 1 hdc in the next 3 sts – 7 sts; Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, working in back loop of Row 4, 1 hdc in the next 3 sts, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 1 sl st in st 6 of Rnd 17 – 7 sts.


Work the same pattern until Row 31.


Fasten off and leave a strand of yarn.

With A sew Row 1 and Row 31 of the Ribbed Band together.

Thread a long strand of A yarn through the stitches of Rnd 17. Pull tail to close opening and knot with a bow. Weave in ends.
