Mini Christmas Stocking Free Crochet Pattern

Today I'll be sharing an absolutely adorable Christmas decoration - a mini Stocking!


You can hang it to the Christmas tree, create a colorful garland or add it to a festive wreath!

Here's the FREE pattern!


YARN: light yarn (3) in white, red/green

MATERIALS: 2.5 mm crochet hook; yarn needle

DIMENSION: 3” x 2” (7 x 5 cm)

ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), back loop only (BLO), fasten off (F/O)

SKILL LEVEL: beginner

When working in round…

Close each round with a sl st and then chain 1. Work the very first stitch of the round into the same stitch.

Sock (white, red/green)

Rnd 1: starting off with white yarn – 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: sc inc around (16)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)

Rnd 4: sc even (24)

Rnd 5: switch to red/green yarn – sc even (24)

Rnds 6 - 11: sc even (24)

Working the heel in rows...

Row 1: switch back to white yarn – 2 sc, 2 hdc, 4 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc (leave the remaining sts unworked (12); ch1 and turn

Row 2: 1 sc dec, 2 hdc, 4 dc, 2 hdc, 1 sc dec (10); ch1 and turn

Row 3: 1 sc dec, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 dc (mark this st), 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc dec (8); F/O

Working in rounds again…

Rnd 12: insert the hook into the marked st and join red yarn – work 1 sc into the same st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts; now work on the side border of the heel, 2 sc; continue working on rnd #11, skip the first st, then work 1 sc in each of the next 12 sts; continue working on the side border of the heel, and crochet 2 sc; keep working on row #3, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts (24)

Rnds 13 - 16: sc even (24); F/O red yarn


Brim (white yarn)

Row 1: insert the hook into the 1st st of rnd # 16 of the sock – work 4 chs, 1 sc into the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each of the next 2 chs; skip 1 st of Rnd #16 and sl st into the next st; turn

Row 2: working in BLO, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts (3); ch1 and turn

Row 3: working in BLO, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts (3), skip 1 st of Rnd # 16 and sl st into the next st; turn

Rows 4 - 23: rep rows #2-3; F/O and leave a long strand of yarn to sew the two sides of the brim together.
