Nursing Toy Set Free Crochet Pattern

Today's post is dedicated to all the extraordinary people in the world that are on the frontline of the coronavirus outbreak.

A big Thank You to all the doctors, nurses, hospital and care facilities workers, who have been working without rest, putting also their life at risk!


Talking about doctors, who has never dreamed of becoming one when little?!?

When I was a kid I would spend hours playing and taking care of my "sick" dolls, checking their temperatures, listening to their heart beat and giving them shots!


Well, with today's free project, you'll be able to create a little nursing set for your little one that features a stethoscope, a syringe and a thermometer!

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

YARN: Medium Weight Cotton Yarn (Lace 4) in White, Lilac, Gray and Black

OTHER MATERIALS: Polyester Fiber Filling

HOOK SIZES: E/3,25 mm

DIMENSIONS: Stethoscope (19” long); Thermometer (5” long); Syringe (5” long)

STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), back loop only (BLO), front loops only (FLO), decrease (dec), increase (inc), fasten off (F/O).

INSTRUCTIONS: work in rounds (join with a sl st and ch1 at the end of each round) unless otherwise instructed.

STETHOSCOPE

EAR TUBES (white and lilac yarn)

Make two:

1) starting off with lilac yarn, 8 sc in a mr (8)

2-5) sc even (8)

6) switch to white yarn, *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** twice (6)

7-37) sc even (6)

Switch to lilac yarn once working the last sc of round #37 of ear tube #2

Merge the ear tubes together:

39) join the yarn with a sl st to the ear tube #1, ch1 and sc in the same st, 5 sc, keep working on the ear tube #2, 6 sc (12)

40-42) sc even (12)

43) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (8)

44) switch to white yarn, *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** twice (6)

45-91) sc even (6); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn


BELL (white and lilac yarn)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) sc inc around (16)

3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (24)

4) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (32)

5) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (40)

6) working in BLO, sc even (40)

7-10) sc even (40)

11) working in BLO, *3 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (32)

12) working in both loops now, *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (24); start stuffing

13) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (16); finish stuffing the bell firmly

14) sc dec around (8); F/O, close the hole and hide the yarn.

Join the white yarn to the FLO of the 1st sc of rnd #5, 1 sc in the same st, 3 sc, 1 sc inc, *4 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat 7 times (48); F/O, and hide the yarn.

Join the white yarn to the FLO of the 1st sc of rnd #10, 1 sc in the same st, 3 sc, 1 sc inc, *4 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat 7 times (48); F/O, and hide the yarn.

Sew the ear tube to the side of the bell, between rnd #7-9.


THERMOMETER

THERMOMETER (white and lilac yarn)

1) starting off with lilac yarn, 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (9)

3) sc even (9)

4) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (6)

5) switch to white yarn, sc even (6)

6) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (8)

7-8) sc even (8)

9) 7 sc, 1 sc inc (9)

10) sc even (9)

11) 8 sc, 1 sc inc (10)

12) sc even (10); start stuffing

13) switch to lilac yarn, *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (15)

14) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (20)

15) sc even (20)

16) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (25)

17) working in BLO, sc even (25)

18-28) working in both loops now, sc even (25)

29) *3 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (20)

30) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (15)

31) working in BLO, *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (10); finish stuffing the thermometer firmly

32) working in both loops now, sc dec (5); F/O, close the hole and hide the yarn.

BUTTON (white and lilac yarn)

1) starting with lilac yarn, 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) switch to white yarn, *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (8); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the button to the thermometer between rnds #26-30.

DISPLAY (white and lilac yarn)

Using your yarn needle and the white yarn embroider the display, between rnds #21-24.


SYRINGE

NEEDLE, HUN AND BARREL (gray and white yarn)

1) starting with gray yarn, 4 sc in a mr (4)

2) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (6)

3-10) sc even (6)

11) switch to white yarn, *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (9)

12-13) sc even (9)

14) working in FLO, *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around, 1 sc (13)

15) working in BLO, sc even (13)

16-25) working in both loops now, sc even (13); stuff the syringe

26) working in BLO, sc dec around (7); F/O, close the hole and hide the yarn.

Embroider the VOLUME MARKINGS with some black yarn.

PLUNGER (white yarn)

1) 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) working in BLO, sc even (6)

3-5) sc even (6)

7) working in FLO, sc inc around (12)

8) working in both loops now, *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (18); F/O, cut and hide the yarn.

Cut a long string of white yarn to sew the plunger to the bottom part of the syringe.
