Today I’m sharing the free instructions to crochet two of my four Little Red Riding Hood finger puppets - the Wolf and the Woodcutter! These characters are fun to make, full of personality, and perfect for sparking little ones’ imaginations.

Woodcutter

Body

With A, make a mr.

Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in ring – 8 sc.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 16 sc.

Rnd 3: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep around – 24 sc.

Rnd 4: Sc in each st around – 24 sc.

Rnd 5: Sc in next 9 sts; with B, sc in next 6 sts; with A, sc in next 9 sts – 24 sc.


Rnd 6: Sc in next 8 sts; with B, sc in next 8 sts; with A, sc in next 8 sts – 24 sc.

Rnd 7: Sc in next 7 sts; with B, sc in next 10 sts; with A, sc in next 7 sts – 24 sc.

Rnd 8: Sc in next 6 sts; with B, sc in next 12 sts; with A, sc in next 6 sts – 24 sc.

Rnd 9: With B, sc in each st around – 24 sc.

Rnd 10: With C, sc in next 11 sts; with D, sc in next 4 sts; with C, sc in next 9 sts – 24 sc.

Rnds 11 - 13: Rep Rnd 10 – 24 sc.

Rnd 14: With C, sc in next 11 sts; with A, sc in next 4 sts; with C, sc in next 9 sts – 24 sc.

Fasten off cut the yarn and weave in ends.

 

Embroider the BUTTONS with black thread between Rnds # 10 and 11, 12 and 13, 14 and 15 with the french knot technique.


Embroider the NOSE with B yarn between rnds # 6-7, with the french knot technique.


Embroider the EYES with black thread between rnds # 5-7. Add the eye glare with white thread.

 

Embroider the MOUTH with F between rnds # 8-9.



Hat

With C, make a mr.

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in ring – 6 sc.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 12 sc.

Rnd 3: Work in back loop only, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep around – 18 sc.

 

Rnds 4 - 5: Sc in each st around – 18 sc.

Rnd 6: Work in front loop only, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep around – 27 sc.

Rnd 7: (sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep around – 36 sc.

 

With D, embroider short lines between Rnds 5 and 6.

 

Fasten off and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the Hat on top of the Head. 

 

With A, embroider short lines for the Mustaches. 




Wolf


Body

With F, make a mr.

Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in ring – 8 sc.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in next 3 sts; with G, 2 sc in next st; with F, 2 sc in next 4 sts – 16 sc.

Rnd 3: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next s) rep three times; with G, sc in next st; work 1 sc with G and 1 sc with F in the next st; with F, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep four times – 24 sc. 

Rnd 4: With F, sc in next 9 sts; with G, sc in next 2 sts; with F, sc in next 13 sts – 24 sc. 

Rnds 5 - 6: rep Rnd 4 – 24 sc.

Rnds 7 - 10: With F, sc in each st around – 24 sc.

Rnd 11: With G, sc in next 7 sts; with F, sc in next 6 sts; with G, sc in next 11 sts – 24 sc.

Rnd 12: With G, sc in next 8 sts; with F, sc in next 5 sts; with G, sc in next 11 sts – 24 sc. 

Rnd 13: With G, sc in next 9 sts; with F, sc in next 3 sts; with G, sc in next 12 sts – 24 sc. 

Rnd 14: With G, sc in next 10 sts; with F, sc in next 2 sts; with G, sc in next 12 sts – 24 sc. 

Rnd 15: With G, sc in next 11 sts; with F, sc in next 1 sts; with G, sc in next 12 sts – 24 sc. 

Rnds 16 - 19: With G, sc in each st around – 24 sc.

Rnd 20: Sl st in each st around – 24 sl st. 

 

Fasten off cut the yarn and weave in ends.



Muzzle

With H, make a mr.

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in ring – 6 sc.

Rnd 2: (sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep twice – 8 sc.

Rnd 3: Sc in each st around – 8 sc.

 

Fasten off and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the Muzzle onto the Head between Rnds 6 and 10. Stuff as you sew it.

 

Embroider the NOSE with black thread.  

 

Embroider the EYES with black thread between rnds # 4-7. Add the eye glare with white thread.



Ears (make two)

With G, make a mr.

Rnd 1: Work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 chs, 1 sl st into the previous hdc, 1 sc in ring – 6 sts.

 

Pull the yarn tail to close the loop nice and tight, but DO NOT join the last and the first stitches together.

 

Fasten off and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the Ears onto the Head onto the Head, between Rnds 1 and 4.
