Rocket Free Crochet Pattern

Space is one of those subjects that kids love!

There are so many facts and unknown things about space that it is almost impossible not to be fascinated by it!

Galaxies, stars, planets...a whole universe that just needs to be discovered!


How many little future astronauts and space enthusiasts do you know that love spending hours reading about the universe, playing at conquering new planets and maybe meeting an extraterrestrial creature? I think I know already the answer...😊


Today I want to share with you the crochet instructions of a fun and colorful ROCKET that the little space lover in your life will love!

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

YARN: Medium Weight Yarn (Lace 4) in White, Red, Yellow and Light Blue

OTHER MATERIALS: Polyester Fiber Filling

HOOK SIZES: 3.5 mm

STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), decrease (dec), increase (inc), back loop only (BLO), front loop only (FLO), fasten off (F/O).

INSTRUCTIONS: Work in rows otherwise instructed; join with a sl st, and ch1 at the end of each row.

BODY TUBE (white, red, and yellow yarn)

1) start working with white yarn, 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) *1 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (12)

3) *2 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (16)

4) *3 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (20)

5) sc even (20)

6) *4 sc, inc *, repeat ** around (24)

7) sc even (24)

8) *5 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (28)

9) sc even (28)

10) *6 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (32)

11-16) sc even (32); start stuffing the rocket

17) switch to red yarn, working in fl only, sc even (32)

18-20) sc even (32)

21) working in BLO only, *2 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (24)

22) switch to yellow yarn, *1 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (16); finish stuffing the rocket

23) dec around (8); F/O, close the hole and hide the yarn

24) attach red yarn to the FLO of any one st of rnd 21, *3 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (40)

25) sc even (40); F/O and hide the yarn


FINS (red yarn; make two)

1) 4 sc in a mr (4)

2) *1 sc, inc*, repeat ** twice (6)

3) *2 sc, inc*, repeat ** twice (8)

4) *3 sc, inc*, repeat ** twice (10)

5) flatten the fin and stat crocheting through both layers, 5 sc (5); ch 1 and turn

6) 1 hdc inc, 1 hdc and 1 sc in the next st, 1 sc, 1 sl st (6); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the fin to the side of the rocket body (between round #9 and #15).


WINDOW (light blue yarn)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) inc around (16); F/O and leave a log tail of yarn to attach the window to the body tube.


EXHAUST FLAMES (yellow yarn)

1) 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) sc even (6)

3) *2 sc, inc*, repeat ** twice (8)

4) *3 sc, inc*, repeat ** twice (10); stuff the flame

5) sc even (10); F/O and leave a log tail of yarn to attach the flame to the bottom part of the rocket.
