It may be the never ending Michigan cold and rainy days, or the desire of spending time in nature, that lately made me daydreaming of slow and easy beach days.
I'm sure I'm not alone here, and many of you can't wait to get into Summer mood. Am I right? No worries, I got you covered with this easy and quick crochet project!
These beautiful crocheted sea stars would be the perfect decor to give your home a summer vibe or could work great as crib mobile attachments.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
YARN: Medium Weight Cotton Yarn (Lace 4) in Rust, Beige, Off White colors
OTHER MATERIALS: Polyester Fiber Filling
HOOK SIZES: E-2.75 mm; D/3-3.25 mm
DIMENSIONS: 5"x5" / 4"x4"
STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), decrease (dec), increase (inc), fasten off (F/O).
INSTRUCTIONS: work in rounds (join with a sl st and ch1 at the end of each row) otherwise instructed.

SMALL SEA STAR (rust yarn; 2.75 mm hook; make two)
1) start working with rust yarn, 5 sc in a mr (5)
2) inc around (10)
3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (15)
4) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (20)
5) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (25)
6) start working in rows, 5 sc (5); ch1 and turn
7) sc even (5); ch 1 and turn
8) 2 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 sc (4); ch 1 and turn
9) sc even (4); ch 1 and turn
10) 1 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 sc (3); ch 1 and turn
11) sc even (3); ch 1 and turn
12) 1 sc, 1 sc dec (2); ch 1 and turn
13) sc even (2); ch 1 and turn
14) 1 sc dec (1); F/O and cut the yarn
Repeat from rnd # 6 to rnd # 14, 4 times.
Once you have crocheted the second panel, place the two panels one above the other, matching up all sides.
Sew the panels together: join the yarn through the two panels with a sl st, chain 1 and single crochet around the edges. Work 3 sc in the st at the top of each star’s leg. Stuff lightly as you sew the two panels together.
Make little french knots (with off white yarn) on one side of the sea star across the length of each leg (see photos).
BIG SEA STAR (beige and rust yarn; 3.25 mm hook; make two)
1) start working with beige yarn, 5 sc in a mr (5)
2) sc inc around (10)
3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (15)
4) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (20)
5) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (25)
6) 5 sc (5); ch1 and turn
7) sc even (5); ch 1 and turn
8) 2 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 sc (4); ch 1 and turn
9-10) sc even (4); ch 1 and turn
11) 1 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 sc (3); ch 1 and turn
12-13) sc even (3); ch 1 and turn
14) 1 sc, 1 sc dec (2); ch 1 and turn
15) sc even (2); ch 1 and turn
16) 1 sc dec (1); F/O and cut the yarn
Repeat from rnd # 6 to rnd # 16, 4 times.
