Snowman Free Crochet Pattern

I just love his tilted shape and his cute wooden arms!

Here's the Free pattern!


YARN: Crème Cotton Yarn by Loops and Threads medium yarn (4) in cream and pumpkin

MATERIALS: 3.25 mm crochet hook; yarn needle; 6mm plastic safety eyes, polyester fiberfill

DIMENSION: H. 7.5” x L. 4” (20 x 11 cm)

ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), front loop only (FLO), back loop only (BLO), fasten off (F/O)

SKILL LEVEL: beginner

When working in round…

Close each round with a sl st and then chain 1. Work the very first stitch of the round into the same stitch.

Snowman (cream)

Rnd 1: 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: sc inc around (16)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)

Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (32)

Rnd 5: sc even (32)

Rnd 6: (3 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (40)

Rnds 7 - 13: sc even (40)

Rnd 14: (3 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (32)

Rnd 15: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (24)

Rnd 16: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (18)

Rnd 17: working in FLO – (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (27)

Insert plastic safety eyes between rnds 9 and 10, 8 sts apart.

Rnd 18: working in both loops – (2 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (36)

Rnd 19: (3 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (45); start stuffing.

Rnd 20: 10 sc, [(1 sc inc, 1 sc) rep three times], 29 (48)

Rnd 21: 10 sc, [(1 sc inc, 2 sc) rep twice], 32 (50)

Rnds 22 - 25: sc even (50)

Rnd 26: (8 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (45)

Rnd 27: (7 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (40)

Rnd 29: working in FLO – sc inc around (64)

Rnd 30: working in both loops – 48 sc, [(1 sc inc, 1 sc) rep three times], 10 sc (67)

Rnds 31 - 38: sc even (67)

Rnd 39: 15 sc, 1 sc dec, 3 sc, 1 sc dec, 3 sc, 1 sc dec, 40 sc (64)

Rnd 40: (6 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (56)

Rnd 41: (5 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (48)

Rnd 42: working in BLO – (4 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (40)

Rnd 43: working in both loops – (3 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (32)

Rnd 44: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (24)

Rnd 45: (1 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (16); finish stuffing.

Rnd 46: sc dec around (8); F/O, close the hole and weave in end.


Nose (pumpkin)

Rnd 1: 4 sc in a mr (4)

Rnd 2: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (6)

Rnd 3: (2 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (8)

Rnd 4: sc even (8); F/O and leave a long strand of yarn to sew the nose onto the head between rnds 9 and 12.


Embroider the EYEBROWS with black cotton thread between rnds 7 and 8, 8 sts apart. Embroider the MOUTH with black cotton thread between rnds 13 and 14.

Use two little wooden branches as arms.
