YARN: Light (3) - Light and Dark Brown, Red, Green, Beige, Yellow, Black and White; Cotton Thread in Black MATERIALS:

2.5 mm Crochet Hook; Yarn Needle ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), increase (inc), decrease (dec), fasten off (F/O)

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

ELF


Body (light brown, beige, red, green)

Rnd 1: starting off with brown yarn – 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: sc inc around (16)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)

Rnd 4: sc even (24)

Rnd 5: 8 sc with brown yarn, 8 sc with beige, 8 sc with brown yarn (24)

Rnd 6: 8 sc with brown yarn, 8 sc with beige, 8 sc with brown yarn (24)

Rnd 7: 6 sc with brown yarn, 12 sc with beige, 6 sc with brown yarn (24)

Rnd 8: 6 sc with brown yarn, 12 sc with beige, 6 sc with brown yarn (24)

Rnd 9: switch to red yarn – sc even (24)

Rnd 10: (2 sc with red yarn, 1 sc with green yarn) rep 8 times (24)

Rnd 11: (1 sc with red yarn, 2 sc with green yarn) rep 8 times (24); do not F/O red yarn

Rnd 12: working with green yarn only – sc even (24)

Rnds 13 - 15: sc even (24)

Rnd 16: switch to red yarn – sc even (24)

Rnd 17: switch back to green yarn – sc even (24)

Rnds 19 - 20: sc even (24); F/O, cut the yarn and weave in ends.


Embroider the HAIR with brown yarn.

Embroider the EYES with black yarn between rnds 5 and 7.

Embroider the EYE GLARE with white yarn.

Embroider the MOUTH between rnds 7 and 9 with black cotton thread.

Embroider the NOSE between rnds 6 and 7 with beige yarn.

Embroider the BELT BUCKLE with yellow yarn.


Ears (beige – make two)

Rnd 1: in a mr work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 chs, 1 sl st into the hdc, 1 hdc, 1 sc (5 sts, 2 chs)

Close the ring but do not join. F/O and leave a long strand of yarn to sew the ears to the side of the head between rnds 6 and 8.


Hat (green and red)

Rnd 1: starting off with green yarn – 5 sc in a mr (5)

Rnd 2: 4 sc, 1 sc inc (6)

Rnd 3: (2 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (8)

Rnd 4: sc even (8)

Rnd 5: (3 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (10)

Rnd 6: sc even (10)

Rnd 7: (4 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (12)

Rnd 8: (5 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (14)

Rnd 9: (6 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (16)

Rnd 10: (7 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (18)

Rnd 11: (8 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (20)

Rnd 12: (4 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)

Rnd 13: (5 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (28)

Rnd 14: switch to red yarn – sc even (28)

Rnd 15: sc even (28); F/O, cut the yarn and weave in ends.

Bend down the tip of the hat and secure it in place with some green yarn.


POM POM – yellow

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a mr (6)

Rnd 2: sc even (6); F/O and leave a long strand of yarn to attach the pom pom to the tip of the hat.

 

REINDEER


Body (light brown)

Rnd 1: 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: sc inc around (16)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)

Rnds 4 - 20: sc even (24); F/O, cut the yarn and wave in ends.


Muzzle (light brown)

Rnd 1: 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: (3 sc, 1 sc inc) rep twice (10)

Rnds 3 - 4: sc even (10); F/O and leave a long strand of yarn to sew the muzzle to the body between rnds 6 and 10. Stuff the muzzle before securing it in place.


Embroider the NOSE with some scrap red yarn.

Embroider the EYES with black yarn between rnds # 5-7. Add the eye glare with white yarn.

Embroider the EYEBROWS with black yarn between rnds # 3-5.

Embroider the vertical MOUTH line underneath the red nose.


Ears (light brown – make two)

Rnd 1: in a mr work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 chs, 1 sl st into the hdc, 1 hdc, 1 sc (5 sts, 2 chs)

Close the ring but do not join. F/O and leave a long strand of yarn to sew the ears to the top of the head between rnds # 3-5.


Antlers (dark brown ­– make two)

Row 1: 9 chs, 1 sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sl st in each of the next 3 chs, 4 chs, 1 sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sl st in each of the next 2 ch, 1 sl st in the 4th ch of the initial foundation chain, 1 sl st in the next ch, 4 chs, 1 sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sl st in each of the next 2 ch, 1 sl st in the 2nd ch of the initial foundation chain, 1 sl st in the next ch; F/O and leave a long strand of yarn.


Sew the antlers to the top of the head between rnds 2 and 4.
