Let me introduce you to Neo the Seahorse!

I had a blast designing this cute fella. I love every little detail about him...from the wonderful color pattern, to the curled tail, from the ribbed fins to its big size

Snout

With A and bigger hook, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: work 6 sc in ring.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 12 sc.

Rnd 3: working in back loop only, 1 sc in each st around – 12 sc.

Rnd 4: working in both loops now, * sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog; rep from * twice – 10 sc.

Rnds 5 - 7: 1 sc in each st around – 10 sc.

Rnd 8: * sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * twice – 12 sc.

Begin stuffing piece and continue stuffing until piece is complete.

Rnd 9: * sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 16 sc.

Rnd 10: * sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 20 sc.


Fasten off, leaving a long strand for sewing Snout to Head.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through top of sts of last rnd. Pull tail to close opening and knot securely.

With A (aqua), sew the Snout to the Head between Rnds 17 and 23.



Coronet

With A (initial gold section), and smaller hook

Row 1: Ch 5, hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc into the next ch, 1 sc into the next 2 chs – 4 sts; Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, working in back loop only, 1 sc into the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into the next 2 sts – 4 sts; Turn

Row 3: Ch 1, working in back loop only, 1 hdc into the next 2 sts, 1 sc into the next 2 sts – 4 sts; Turn

Row 4: Ch 1, working in back loop only, 1 sc into the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into the next 2 sts – 4 sts; Turn

Rows 5 - 29: rep Rows 3 and 4 - 4 sts


Fasten off, leaving a long strand for sewing Coronet to Head.



Pectoral Fins (make two)

With A (initial gold section), and smaller hook

Row 1: Ch 12, dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 1 dc into the next 2 chs, 1 hdc into the next 3 chs, 1 sc into the next 3 chs, sl st into the last ch – 10 sts; Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sl st into the next st, working in back loop only, 1 sc into the next 3 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 dc into the next 3 sts – 10 sts; Turn

Row 3: Ch 2, working in back loop only, 1 dc into the next 3 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 sc into the next 3 sts, 1 sl st into the last st – 10 sts; Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sl st into the next st, working in back loop only,1 sc into the next 3 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 dc into the next 3 sts – 10 sts; Turn

Rows 5: Ch 2, working in back loop only, 1 dc into the next 3 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 sc into the next 3 sts, 1 sl st into the last st – 10 sts; Turn.


Fasten off, leaving a long strand for sewing Pectoral Fins to Body, between Rnds 42 and 45.



Dorsal Fin

Row 1: Ch 10, dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 1 dc into the next 2 chs, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 sc into the next 2 sts – 8 sts; Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, working in back loop only, 1 sc into the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 dc into the next 3 sts – 8 sts; Turn

Row 3: Ch 2, working in back loop only, 1 dc into the next 3 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 sc into the next 2 sts – 8 sts; Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, working in back loop only, 1 sc into the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into the next 3 sts, 1 dc into the next 3 sts – 8 sts; Turn

Eyes (make two)

With A (white section) and bigger hook, make a magic ring.

Fasten off, leaving a long strand for sewing Eyes to Head, between Rnds 12 and 19.
